This scholarship honors Owen El Hodgson and Eloise Hodgson Lynch.Owen Hodgson's career as a teacher spanne nearly 40 years. He was a teacher and principal at Salina's Washington High and retired as principal of Salina High School. Owen's daughter, Eloise Hodgson Lynch was a social science teacher. Both Owen and Eloise were recognized as Kansas Master Teachers. Jack, Matt & Will Lynch are the grandsons of Owen, and the sons of Eloise. They established this scholarship as a way to honor the memory of their grandaterh and their mother and to assist teachers in advancing their skills.

This scholarship honors Len Lenkiewicz, a man who viewed teaching as a way to share his love of history with middle school students. He taught in USD 305 for 20 years. He enjoyed bringing history alive through his lectures and never forgot the name or face of a former student.

NEA-Salina Educator Scholarship (New deadline--March 1)
NEA-Salina is offering two $500 scholarships, one for an elementary teacher and one for a secondary teacher, for the advancement of an education-related degree. Applicants must be a current member of NEA and be working toward a master's degree or doctorate in the field of education. The scholarship will be awarded annually and past winners may reapply.

Mary and A. Jay Andersen Scholarship
The Mary and A. Jay Andersen Scholarship is established to assist USD 305 teachers who wish to pursue graduate degrees or further their education. One $1,000 scholarship may be awarded each calendar year on an objective and nondiscriminatory basis. All applicants must have taught in Salina Public Schools a minimum of three years and must be working toward a graduate degree. Applicants must have persistence, good character, and must be committed to the field of education.

Pam McIntyre was the executive director of the Salina Education Foundation from 1996 until her retirement in 2020. The Salina Education Foundation's board of trustees has established this $1,000 scholarship to honor Pam’s legacy by helping a USD 305 teacher complete post graduate work.

Jett Family Excellence In Teaching Award
The Jett Family Excellence in Teaching Award recognizes a USD 305 secondary teacher who has shown compassion for all students and exhibited creative and innovative teaching strategies. The award is designed to encourage, reward, and publicly acknowledge excellence in teaching by members of USD 305’s secondary teachers. One secondary teacher whose record of outstanding teaching within and outside the classroom will be recognized annually with a gift of $500.
